Death of Everyone’s Hair – Video Essay

During a trailer reaction for Birds of Prey, I analysed the scene where Harley cuts her pigtails. I found more significance in the action than a simple haircut which garnered positive attention in some comments.

This got me thinking: where else in media is a haircut more than a haircut?

It was the drastic haircuts and dyes during this pandemic that really gave me the inspiration to finish this video essay. I hope you enjoy it!

A lot goes into the scripts for these videos. This took the most planning, writing, and re-writing out of all of my video essays. The editing process took just as much planning for organising the audio and visual clips, as well as the music.

Even still, it never hurts to sprinkle in a little improv.
